🍀 Savor bold Cajun flavors in this quick one-pan dinner that’s ready in just 30 minutes
🍚 Perfectly spiced shrimp and fluffy rice make for an impressive yet easy weeknight meal

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

– 1 β…“ cups uncooked long grain white rice

– 2 β…” cups chicken broth

– 1 pound large or jumbo shrimp peeled and deveined

– 1 Β½ teaspoons paprika

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1 teaspoon garlic powder

– Β½ teaspoon cracked black pepper

– Β½ teaspoon onion powder

– Β½ teaspoon dried oregano or Italian herb blend

– Β½ teaspoon cayenne pepper

– ΒΌ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

– 4 tablespoons melted butter (divided)

– 1 teaspoon minced garlic

Instructions

1-Getting started with this Cajun Shrimp Skillet is as fun as it is simple. Begin by whisking together the Cajun seasoning to blend all those spices just right. This sets the stage for a meal that’s full of flavor and ready in no time.

2-First, melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Stir in the minced garlic, half of the Cajun seasoning, and the rice, making sure the rice gets a good coat of that spicy mix. It’s like giving your rice a head start on the flavor adventure.

3-Next, pour in the chicken broth and bring it to a boil. Then, lower the heat to simmer, cover the skillet, and let it cook for about 15 minutes. Remember to stir once or twice to keep everything even it’s a small step that makes a big difference in texture.

4-While the rice simmers, mix the remaining melted butter with the rest of the Cajun seasoning. Toss the shrimp in this mixture until they’re well covered. This is your chance to add that extra zing that makes the dish pop.

5-Stir the seasoned shrimp into the rice, cover again, and cook for another 3 to 5 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. If you want your shrimp a bit crispy, sautΓ© them separately first. Finish with a sprinkle of chopped parsley for a fresh touch, and you’re set to serve.

6-Whisk seasoning

7-Melt butter and stir in garlic, seasoning, and rice

8-Add broth and simmer

9-Prepare and add shrimp

Notes

πŸ”₯ For extra crispy shrimp, sautΓ© them separately in butter for 2-3 minutes per side before adding to the rice
🌢️ Adjust the spice level by reducing or increasing the cayenne pepper and red pepper flakes to your preference
πŸ₯˜ This recipe works great with brown rice too – just increase the cooking time to about 25-30 minutes and add extra broth as needed
