Ingredients

– 1 loaf of baguette, cut into 1/2-inch thick slices

– 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil

– Salt and freshly ground black pepper for sprinkling

– 5 Roma tomatoes, sliced

– 1 1/4 pounds fresh mozzarella, sliced

– 1 bunch of fresh basil leaves, stemmed

Instructions

1-Bake the slices until they turn pale golden and crisp, which takes about 5 minutes.

2-Take the baking sheet out of the oven and add a tomato slice to each piece, sprinkling more salt and pepper on top.

3-Place a slice of mozzarella on each one and sprinkle with additional salt.

4-Bake again for about 5 minutes until the cheese and tomato warm up nicely.

5-Arrange the toasts on a serving platter, top each with a basil leaf, drizzle the remaining olive oil over them, and add a final sprinkle of salt and pepper.

6-Serve right away to enjoy the fresh flavors at their best.
