Ingredients
15 oz ricotta cheese
1 large egg
2 cups mozzarella cheese
½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon dried basil
½ teaspoon dried parsley
¼ teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small yellow onion, diced
½ pound ground beef
½ pound ground Italian sausage (hot or mild)
3 cloves garlic
½ cup chicken broth
32 oz marinara sauce
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
12 lasagna noodles plus extra for breakage
1.5 cups mozzarella cheese
Instructions
1-Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bring a large pot of salted water to boil and cook the lasagna noodles until al dente, then drain and rinse with cold water.
2-Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat, add diced onions, and cook for about 10 minutes until soft. Add ground beef and Italian sausage, increase heat to medium-high, break up the meat finely, and cook for 8-10 minutes until browned. Add garlic during the last minute, then drain excess grease.
3-Add chicken broth and scrape the pot bottom with a spatula. Stir in the remaining marinara sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer.
4-Spread ½ cup marinara sauce on the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Lay the noodles on parchment or wax paper, spread approximately 2½ tablespoons of cheese mixture over each noodle, followed by ¼ cup of meat sauce, then roll tightly and place seam side down in the baking dish.
5-Top the rolls with the remaining meat sauce and sprinkle with 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese. Cover with foil sprayed with non-stick spray and bake for 35 minutes. Optionally, broil at 450°F for a few minutes to brown the top, watching closely. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
