  • Total Time: 2 hours 5 minutes
  • Yield: 10 to 12 rolls 1x

Ingredients

Scale

2 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more as needed

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup whole milk

3 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 and 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast

1 large egg, at room temperature

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

1/3 cup packed light or dark brown sugar

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

4 ounces full-fat cream cheese, softened

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

2/3 cup confectioners’ sugar

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

1-Start by preparing your space and ingredients. In a large bowl, whisk together 2 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. This sets the base for a fluffy dough.

2-Next, warm 3/4 cup whole milk and 3 tablespoons unsalted butter until the butter melts and the mixture hits about 110Β°F. Then, whisk in 2 and 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast until it’s fully dissolved. Pour this into the dry mix, add 1 large egg at room temperature, and stir until a soft dough forms.

3-Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 3-5 minutes until it’s smooth. Place it in a greased bowl, cover loosely, and let it rest for 10 minutes. Roll the dough into a 14 by 8-inch rectangle, spread 3 tablespoons softened unsalted butter over it, and sprinkle on 1/3 cup packed brown sugar mixed with 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon.

4-Roll the dough into a 14-inch log, cut it into 10-12 rolls, and place them in a lightly greased 9- or 10-inch pan. Cover and let them rise in a warm spot for 60 to 90 minutes until doubled. Bake at 375Β°F for 24-27 minutes until lightly browned, then let cool slightly.

5-For the finishing touch, beat 4 ounces softened cream cheese until smooth, then mix in 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, 2/3 cup confectioners’ sugar, and 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract. Spread it over the warm rolls and serve right away.
