โ˜• Enjoy a smooth and creamy Mocha Buttercream that beautifully combines rich chocolate and bold coffee flavors.
๐Ÿซ This frosting is perfect for cakes and cupcakes, adding a deliciously decadent touch to your desserts.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: Enough to frost 12 to 15 cupcakes or fill a 3-layer 6-inch cake

Ingredients

– 1 cup unsalted butter at room temperature

– 3 cups powdered sugar

– 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (natural or Dutch-processed)

– 1 1/2 teaspoons espresso powder or instant coffee

– 2 tablespoons whole milk at room temperature

– 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

– Pinch of salt

– 1 cup Unsalted butter

– 3 cups Powdered sugar

– 1/4 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder

Instructions

1-Gather all ingredients first, making sure the butter is at room temperature for easy mixing. If you’re using a vegan alternative, have it ready too.

2-In a mixing bowl, sift the powdered sugar and unsweetened cocoa powder together. This step prevents lumps and ensures even blending.

3-Dissolve the espresso powder or instant coffee in 1 tablespoon of hot water, then let it cool. This brings out the coffee flavor without adding excess moisture.

4-Beat the softened butter on medium speed until it’s creamy, which takes about 5 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed for a uniform texture.

5-Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar and cocoa mixture to the butter, mixing on low speed to avoid a mess.

6-Pour in the cooled espresso mixture, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Turn the speed to medium and beat until everything is fully combined and smooth, about 1 to 2 minutes.

7-If the frosting seems too thick, add a teaspoon of milk at a time until it’s just right. For dietary adaptations, use plant-based milk as needed.

8-Taste the frosting and adjust for sweetness or coffee strength. If you’re aiming for gluten-free or low-calorie, make sure your choices align.

9-Once it’s light and spreadable, your mocha frosting is ready! Use it right away on cakes or cupcakes, or chill it briefly for a firmer hold.

Notes

โ˜• Use espresso powder or instant coffee mixed with milk for a strong coffee flavor; brewed coffee may dilute the texture.
๐ŸŽ‚ This frosting holds shape well, ideal for decorating, filling, or topping.
