πŸ§€ Enjoy crispy and gooey homemade mozzarella sticks, perfect as a savory snack or appetizer.
πŸ… This recipe offers a satisfying texture with a crunchy crust and melty cheese center, complemented by classic marinara dipping sauce.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 28 minutes
  • Yield: About 15 mozzarella sticks 1x

Ingredients

Scale

1 Β½ cups plain Panko breadcrumbs

Β½ teaspoon Italian seasoning

Β½ teaspoon dried parsley

ΒΌ teaspoon garlic powder

Β½ teaspoon ground black pepper

ΒΌ teaspoon table salt

2 large eggs

Β½ cup all-purpose flour

1 pound whole milk mozzarella block (or 15 whole milk string cheese pieces)

Vegetable oil for frying (amount as needed for deep frying)

Marinara sauce for dipping (amount as desired)

Instructions

1-First, crush the Panko breadcrumbs using a rolling pin until they are fine. Then, in a bowl, mix the crushed Panko with the Italian seasoning, dried parsley, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt.

2-Prepare three separate shallow bowls: one with the flour, one with the beaten eggs, and one with the seasoned Panko mixture.

3-If using a mozzarella block, cut it into sticks. For each stick, first coat it in flour and shake off the excess, then dip it in the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off, and finally coat it thoroughly with the Panko mixture.

4-Place the coated sticks on a wire rack over a baking sheet and freeze them for at least one hour to help them hold their shape during cooking.

5-To cook, heat vegetable oil in a pot to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Fry the sticks two at a time until they turn golden brown, about one minute, then drain them on paper towels.

6-For alternative methods, bake the sticks at 415 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes until lightly golden, or air fry them at 390 degrees Fahrenheit for 6-8 minutes, tossing halfway through.

7-Serve them warm with marinara sauce for dipping. These steps ensure your mozzarella sticks come out crispy and full of flavor every time.

πŸ§‚ Crushing Panko breadcrumbs finely ensures a crispy coating.
πŸ§€ Use whole milk mozzarella for optimal flavor and texture; string cheese is an alternative.
❄️ Freeze coated sticks for at least 1 hour to prevent cheese leakage during cooking.
🌑️ Maintain oil temperature at 350°F and allow recovery between batches for best results.
🍴 For baking or air frying, lightly spray sticks and surfaces to promote browning.
