Ingredients
– 1 head of green cabbage, cut into 1-inch slices
– 1 pound (about 450 grams) of lean ground beef
– 1/2 cup (120 ml) tomato sauce or ketchup
– 1/2 cup (about 50 grams) shredded cheese such as mozzarella or Monterey Jack
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
– 1/2 teaspoon red chili pepper flakes
– 1 teaspoon grated garlic
– 1/2 cup (about 50 grams) chopped green onion
– 1/2 cup (about 30 grams) chopped parsley
Instructions
1-Begin by preheating your oven to 400ΒΊF (200ΒΊC) to set the stage for roasting. Arrange the cabbage slices on a rimmed baking sheet, brush them lightly with oil, and season with salt and pepper before roasting for about 10 minutes to soften them up.
2-While the cabbage roasts, mix the ground beef in a large bowl with grated garlic, chopped green onion, parsley, chili flakes, half of the shredded cheese, salt, and pepper; then form the mixture into four patties.
3-Once the cabbage is ready, spread a tablespoon of tomato sauce on each slice, add some cheese, place a beef patty on top, and finish with the remaining cheese.
4-Pop the assembled burgers back into the oven and bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the patties are cooked through and the cheese melts into a bubbly layer.
5-Garnish with fresh herbs before serving to add a burst of color and flavor.
